Katy Vanden is full time producer at Cap-a-Pie. Katy has significant experience of successfully managing projects and productions with many and diverse stakeholders. She regularly works to bring people together to take part in a shared creative process including academic researchers, young people, children in care, children and adults with learning disabilities, students, migrant communities and older people.
Since joining the company in 2012, Katy has led the company to produce community and education projects and professional productions. These include: Under Us All, a one-man professional performance, co-created with academic Dr Michael Richardson (Newcastle University), exploring the experiences of Irish migrants in Tyneside; The Town Meeting, an award winning immersive and interactive professional touring theatre show which enables co-creation between Dr Paul Cowie (Newcastle University) and audience members around community and political representation; A Reason to Read, bringing together children in care and UG English literature students to explore canonical texts through performance; Performing Research, co-creation between artists and academics.
Katy has a distinction in MA Arts, Business and Creativity and a BMus from Newcastle University.
