The Vanishing Act

Roll up, roll up for a new show exploring the insect world as never seen before!

The Vanishing Act is a new performance about Earth’s disappearing insects. Made by Cap-a-Pie in collaboration with young people and insect scientist Dr Vivek Nityananda.

In May 2023 we completed the first development stage of the show. Sign up to our mailing list for news of future shows.

Insects are vanishing, and this will cause big problems for us and the planet. Find out what makes insects special and the incredible things they can do before it’s too late.

Featuring songs and performances inspired by the latest discoveries about insects from researchers at Newcastle University and beyond, and the brilliantly imaginative ideas from students at Hotspur and Christ Church CE Primary Schools in Newcastle.

Primary school students sit in a line in a school hall with Dr Vivek Nityanada, an adult man, sat slightly apart from them.
