Your town is teetering on the brink. Imminent destruction looms and time is running out to have your say…

Welcome to Little Rikjord, a small, remote, picturesque mining town in Doggerland. A town where the residents entire way of life is at stake.

Cap-a-Pie presents ‘The Town Meeting’ an original interactive and immersive piece of theatre. You become a resident of Little Rikjord and, assisted only by shambolic Junior Planning Officer Benjamin Rennold, will be forced to make the biggest decision in the history of the town.

A new piece of theatre that places you at the centre of the problem, demands solutions, and gives you the power to completely change the story. Inspired by research into how communities decide what’s important and why, the show shines a light on Britain’s fast changing political landscape.

This play explores how communities react to external pressures and represent themselves. All audience members are give the opportunity to be credited as co-investigators. This is an exciting opportunity for audiences to work with a researcher to formulate a research question through participation in a fully interactive and immersive show.

This production is part of ongoing research collaboration between Newcastle University and Cap-a-Pie. In this play we are exploring how communities react to external pressures and organise themselves. Rather than subjects we would like the audience to be co-investigators. Audiences will be given the opportunity to be credited as co-investigators.

The show is written and performed by Brad McCormick, designed by Rhona Dalling and we are pleased to be working again with director Gwilym Lawrence on this production.
